Melanie D. Killion, Complementary Healthcare Therapist
Melanie D. Killion
Hi! My name is Melanie Killion. I am the Complementary Healthcare Therapist at Unique Touch.

My interest in Complementary Healthcare started in childhood. Even at the age of 10 I found giving massage extremely rewarding. My Granny suffered badly with arthritis and she got a great deal of relief from my hand and foot massages. She always told me I had a "Unique Touch"...

I am a registered therapist having met the requirements of membership for the Acupuncture Foundation Proffessional Association (www.acupro.ie), the Complementary Therapists Association (www.complementary.assoc.org.uk) and the Irish Massage Therapists Association (www.massageireland.org).

I trained at Senior College in Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin and obtained CIBTAC Diplomas in Sports Massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Body Massage (Swedish), Aromatherapy and Stress Management.  I also trained in Tui Na, Chinese Medical Acupressure and obtained a Diploma from Tuina Ireland.

Following my graduation from SCD as student of the year 2003/2004,  I completed a Clinical Internship at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.  I then continued my Acupuncture training under Dr. Vincent Carroll at Lansdowne College of Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine, Dublin (
www.lansdownecollege.ie).  I graduated in 2006 with a Diploma in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Certificate in Clinical Medicine.

I have worked in several treatment centers and salons in Dublin including "Refresh" at WestWood Leopardstown, "Melt" Temple Bar Natural Healing Centre and The EBM Clinic. I have been running my own practice (Unique Touch) in Greystones and Kilcoole since the summer of 2006.

In 2010 I started working with the Bray Emmetts GAA teams providing Sports Massage and Acupuncture at training sessions.

Since graduating I have continued my professional development in many ways. I became a member of the Irish Massage Therapists Association (IMTA). Joining the Association has given me the opportunity for both personal and professional development. From 2008 to 2010 I represented the IMTA in the Federation of Irish Complementary Therapy Associations (FICTA). FICTA is the umbrella body representing Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Associations in Ireland. FICTA aims to bring about recognition and regulation of the CAM sector and assist in the accreditation process of CAM courses by lobbying with various Government bodies and Education departments. For more information visit
www.ficta.com
.

In March 2011 I was voted into the position of Vice President of the Irish Massage Therapists Association.

Thanks again for visiting my website! I hope you have found the information you were looking for. If you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
